So the following are the questions and answers to what we're commonly asked about the Civil Engineering profession.

What exactly do Civil Engineers do?

In general we work with everything you see along the roadway from sidewalk to sidewalk. This means we design streets, sidewalks, storm drains, sewer systems (the big lines, outside homes), electricity routing, median landscaping in those planters that sit in the middle of the road, etc. We design the layout of housing tracts, commercial land, and shopping centers to make sure they don't flood and aren't too steep to walk or drive on. We also make sure that your streets don't flood, your roads don't fall apart too fast and that you're comfortable while driving on them.

What don't you do?

We don't do buildings or mechanical devices! Many people think all engineers are the same. While we all have this overly technical way of thinking, we don't all like to think about the same things.

Who do we work with?

We work with government agencies and those who work with them. This includes cities, California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA), County offices, Land Developers, other Engineers, and individual property owners that need our services.

Do we only work with cities?

We definitely do not! We work with anyone that needs the services of a Civil Engineer. This even includes individual homeowners that need a driveway redesign or sidewalk improvement. To every project (whether public or private sector) we bring the same incredible, detail-oriented, mindset we've gained through our years of experience in working with government agencies.
